Here are some photos from the Thanksgiving lunch we had after service last week at Elder Park's place.

As we shared a table together, I was reminded once again of the importance of meals and fellowship in the Christian life.

It is striking that across eras and cultures, one of the core pillars and foundational expressions of "family" is something as simple as meals. You see, "family" is the number one place where you share a table. To sit down at a table and eat together is vitally important in cultivating love. This is also true for  man/woman relationships. Most likely, you asked your loved one out for lunch for your first date.

There is something about sharing a meal that is intrinsically encouraging, edifying, and loving. God wants to share His table with you. So much so that when Jesus came down to earth, He taught, He healed, He even died on the cross for our sin... But we often overlook the fact that He also took the time to sit down and eat with sinners, which is, at the very least, a pround expression of our Lord's desire to see sinners (like you and me) by His side at the Messianic banquet (Isaiah 25:6; Luke 14:15) as brothers and sisters. As sons and daughters.

In the same way, there is a supernatural power at work when we share meals with one another with that same desire - of wanting others to become a part of God’s family and have a place at God’s table. It does not matter how dirty you are or what kind of past you have. Jesus wants you there with Him at His table.
